The Quinta das Bágeiras Garrafeira is made from the Baga grape variety, sourced from very old vines—over 90 years old. It is produced only in exceptional years and showcases the authentic expression of the Bairrada region. The name Mário Sérgio Alves Nuno may not mean much to the most distracted, but he is nothing less than the great mentor behind the outstanding wines of Quinta das Bágeiras. The history of Quinta das Bágeiras traces back to the work of three generations, yet it was only in 1989, under Mário Sérgio’s direction, that the Quinta das Bágeiras wines were bottled and sold, quickly becoming a reference point for Bairrada wines and for Portugal as a whole.
