Quinta de Cidrô The Douro region is widely recognised for its Port wines and concentrated reds, with a robust structure and powerful character. Producing a rosé in this terroir requires mastery, as it is necessary to find the ideal balance during skin maceration — avoiding excessive colour extraction and preserving aromas and flavours with the subtlety worthy of a great rosé. It was in this context that Quinta de Cidrô, located in São João da Pesqueira, proved itself the perfect choice for creating a distinctive rosé. Its high altitude (550 m) and mild temperatures provide the ideal conditions for a fresh and aromatic profile. The estate has become a model of winemaking experimentation in the Douro, covering more than 150 hectares where native and international varieties coexist harmoniously. Among them stand out the Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier, Pinot Noir and the versatile Cabernet Sauvignon, all benefiting from the enological know‑how of Real Companhia Velha. Quinta de Cidrô Rosé is yet another excellent result of this innovative approach. The varieties chosen for the blend are Touriga Nacional, for its floral and fresh character, and Touriga Franca, which contributes structure and acidity. The grapes are hand‑picked and transported in 20‑kg boxes. After a careful hand selection, the bunches are destemmed and the grapes gently pressed in a pneumatic press. The must undergo a 24‑hour cold settling, followed by alcoholic fermentation in stainless‑steel tanks at controlled temperatures between 14 and 16 °C.
