Quinta do Carmo HISTORY The Quinta do Carmo brand has been produced since the 19th century. The estate covers about 1,000 hectares, of which 150 hectares are vineyards surrounded by roughly 400 hectares of montado (woodland), 100 hectares of forest, and 350 hectares of pastureland. For more than a century the estate produced only red wines. It was only in the early 1990s, during a joint venture with the Lafite Rothschild group (Bordeaux), that Quinta do Carmo Branco was created, quickly becoming iconic among Alentejo whites. The cellar on the property is equipped with modern vinification technology, ensuring that the grapes are transformed swiftly while preserving their best qualities. **PROFILE** This white wine is crafted from a selection of the finest white grapes grown at Quinta do Carmo. The vines are planted on both clay‑limestone soils over marble (within the Estremoz anticlinal geological formation) and clay soils over schist. Harvested at peak ripeness, the grapes are picked at dawn, immediately pressed, and cooled upon arrival at the cellar. The wine undergoes a classic white fermentation featuring a cold pre‑fermentation maceration on fine lees followed by an extended post‑fermentation maceration on lees. Its exuberant aromatic profile, supported by vibrant acidity and a firm, full body, makes it drinkable soon after bottling or suitable for aging a few years. The winemaking stage takes place in stainless steel. The wine’s balanced acidity, mineral freshness, and lively character pair perfectly with shellfish, white meats, light salads, pasta, and appetizers such as peanuts and toasted almonds. **Awards** - Bronze – Decanter Asia Wine Awards (2017) - 88 Points – Wine Enthusiast (2017) - FIAPE Contest – Alentejo – Bronze Medal (2015) **Allergen Information** Contains sulfites.
