Depending on its age, wines may show marks left by time, such as dust residue on the bottles and/or some damage to the labels—common in wines that have been stored for decades. Garrafeira Nacional stores all wines at the correct temperature and humidity but always preserves the visual appearance that comes with age. We generally select brands and regions that usually perform well in old‑wine tastings. Still, wine is a living organism, exposed to time, and even within a bottle its aromas evolve in different ways. Therefore, Garrafeira Nacional cannot be held responsible for the wine’s quality, given that it is an aged wine. Our recommendation is to open the bottle and let it aerate first, which helps release its natural aromas after so many years closed. Avoid decanting, as it can be too aggressive for old wines.
