It is in the oldest production sector of the Douro that Montez Champalimaud, blending centuries‑old heritage with a constant drive for innovation, takes pride in producing wines of great quality. Breaking with old paradigms, Quinta do Côtto sparked a revolution that led the most enlightened viticulturists to bottle and sell their own Quinta wines directly to the market. In the 1960s the first Quinta wine of the Douro region was born – Quinta do Côtto – whose success prompted Montez Champalimaud to expand its portfolio, first with Quinta do Côtto Grande Escolha, and later with the new brand Paço de Teixeiró in the Vinhos Verdes region. Today, a Quinta wine guarantees that it was carefully produced and selected by the estate owner, ensuring its quality, personality and authenticity – without which no good wine can be a great wine.
