Located in the city of Estremoz, the estate is distinguished by its beauty and its history. It features a thatched building of 18th‑century architecture, well‑kept gardens, orchards, caramanchões (small stone walls), cisterns, and other 18th‑century artworks, and today it is also renowned for its excellent wines. The estate remained in the hands of the Zagalo family for many years, who used it as a holiday home. Unfortunately, in 1974, during the April 25 Revolution, the house and estate were seized and left abandoned. In 1979 the property was purchased by Miguel Louro, who still owns it today, and he began wine production in the 1980s. (Illustrative image only)
