Since 1920, the Lencart family has owned Quinta dos Lagares, situated in Vale de Mendiz on the left bank of the Pinhão River in the Demarcated Douro region. The estate covers 70 hectares, with about 27 hectares devoted to vineyards planted with traditional Douro grape varieties, and it also produces olive oil. Since 2007, the couple Pedro Lencart and Isabel Sarmento have guided the destiny of this beautiful quinta, which still retains its granite lye pits on the ground floor of a house that dates back to the late 18th century. The wines produced here reflect the family’s commitment and dedication, as they continue to honor ancestral winemaking methods and rely on the region’s classic grape varieties. (illustrative image)
