The Quinta Vale D. Maria, situated in the heart of the Douro, in the Cima Corgo region and more precisely in the Vale do Rio Torto, has a history that dates back to 1868. A new era of excellence began in 1996 when Cristiano van Zeller acquired the family property from his wife, Joana Lemos van Zeller. Over more than two decades, Cristiano has led a dedication and passion‑driven effort, creating unique wines of recognized quality both in Portugal and abroad. The acquisition of Quinta Vale D. Maria by the Aveleda group in 2017 represents the continuation of this legacy, adding a long‑term vision focused on excellence and sustainability. This philosophy is rooted in a passion for every detail, starting with the hand‑selection of the best bunches, continuing with the use of traditional vinification methods, and concluding with the careful choice of the finest French oak barrels.
