Quinta Vale D. Maria, located in the heart of the Douro, in the Cima Corgo sub-region, more precisely in the Rio Torto Valley, has a history dating back to 1868. However, it was in 1996 that a new era of excellence began, when Cristiano van Zeller acquired the property from his wife Joana Lemos van Zeller's family. Over more than two decades, Cristiano led a work of dedication and passion, creating unique wines of recognized quality both in Portugal and abroad. The acquisition of Quinta Vale D. Maria by the Aveleda Group in 2017 represents the continuity of this legacy, adding a long-term vision focused on excellence and sustainability. This philosophy is based on a passion for every detail, beginning with the manual selection of the finest grapes, continuing with the use of traditional winemaking methods, and ending with careful selection of the best French oak barrels.
