Founded in 1850 by the patriarch of a Portuguese family, Manoel da Rocha Romariz, the Romariz estate was initially focused on trade with Brazil and former Portuguese colonies, eventually expanding to England and establishing itself in the domestic market as a benchmark brand for quality wine production. In 1966, it was acquired by Guimaraens & Cia., which prioritized the national market to consolidate the brand. However, in 1987 it became part of an English group that concentrated on developing and unlocking the potential of Porto Reserva Latina, which is now the true brand image of Romariz.
