Descrição

It all began many decades ago, with the arrival of Mr. Manuel Monteiro, a native of Bragança, to the Douro region to work on preparing the land with bulldozers for vineyard plantings throughout much of the area. After marrying my mother, Arlete Salta Monteiro, a native of São João da Pesqueira, he started his viticultural project on the land she inherited and on other properties acquired – Quinta dos Nogueirões, Quinta do Praito and Quinta da Portela, among a few smaller estates, all situated on the right bank of the Rio Torto. These properties include vineyards, olive groves, almond trees, apple orchards, and cork oak trees. This work has continued to the present day, and the five children, from an early age, helped build this heritage of over 60 hectares and nearly 200 tons of grape production, fostering a strong bond with the land and the region. In 2011, after decades of selling grapes to the best producers of Port and table wine in the Douro, the conditions were in place to begin a new step in the family project: transforming and marketing our raw material. Thus the company Quinta dos Nogueirões was born, its name taken from the family’s largest estate. Thanks to the excellent location of our estates, the native grape varieties planted, good viticultural practices within Integrated Production, and vinification and aging by still traditional methods, we produce distinctive nectars of concentrated fruit and unique expressions derived from an exceptional terroir, yielding generous wines. To date, there has been continuous investment and intervention on the land with new vineyards, olive trees, and the creation of spaces dedicated to enotourism, as well as the construction of a new winery, which will allow the company to expand its entire productive capacity.
