100 pts by Robert Parker – a dark, opaque centre with a narrow purple rim. The style is unapologetically Taylor’s, elegant and precise. The nose is dominated by very fine, linear fruit notes, intoxicating and complex, yet restrained by a graphite mineralism. Quinta da Vargellas imprints its signature violet aroma, hovering like a perfumed veil over the wine, with subtle terroir hints of citrus, wild herbs and esteva. The nose remains reserved but offers impressive depth and finish, with signs of further complexity that will unfold over time. The palate is held in check by agile, muscular tannins, firm through the finish, concluding with a powerful wave of pure, crisp wild berries.
