One of the most prestigious estates in the Douro is Quinta do Vallado, an estate that once belonged to D. Antónia Adelaide Ferreira, the Ferreirinha, and is still in the hands of her descendants. Vallado wines were unjustly forgotten and have now naturally recovered their lost time. They are wines of great importance in the history of the Douro and deserve to be at the top spots. Built in 1716, Quinta do Vallado is one of the oldest in the Douro. It is located near Régua, on the banks of the Rio Corgo. The fate of this emblematic estate is in the hands of João Alves Ribeiro and Francisco Ferreira, both descendants of the Ferreirinha, and are responsible for the management of the company and the enology, respectively.
