One of the most prestigious estates in the Douro is Quinta do Vallado, an estate that once belonged to Lady Antónia Adelaide Ferreira, the Ferreirinha, and which remains today in the hands of her descendants. The Vallado wines had been unjustly forgotten but have now naturally reclaimed their lost time. They are wines of great importance to the history of the Douro and deserve to be among the very best. Founded in 1716, Quinta do Vallado is one of the oldest estates in the region. It is located just outside Régua on the banks of the Corgo River. The future of this emblematic estate is in the hands of João Alves Ribeiro and Francisco Ferreira, both descendants of the Ferreirinha, who are respectively responsible for the management of the business and for the enology.
