There is always a unique story hidden behind a wine. The story of the Vasques de Carvalho family has roots as strong as a vine and intertwines with the history of the Douro. Its origins date back to the mid‑19th century, to the family’s wine business, which has always turned its production into generous wine—selling part to exporting houses while aging the rest to add value. In the middle of the 20th century the family began trading generous wine, buying grapes from third parties, vinifying them, and then selling to export merchants.
