Nestled east of Angelus and bordering Canon, the Vieux Château Mazerat 2016 is a compelling blend of 65% Merlot and 35% Cabernet Franc, matured in 80% new oak. The wine reveals intense notes of blackcurrant, smoke, and grilled meat, alongside hints of fig and spice. It possesses remarkable minerality – think charcoal and calcareous earth – supported by building tannins and a lingering finish. This would pair beautifully with roasted lamb.
