**Vinha do Pombal** This wine comes from the oldest parcel of Touriga Nacional, located beside the Pombal, a dovecote built in the early 20th century. The grapes are hand-harvested and vinified in truncated-cone tanks at low temperatures, which allows the specificity of the terroir and the varietal potential to be maximized. It is aged for 12 months on its lees, with no oak ageing whatsoever. The aim of this wine is to showcase the full expression of the grape's elegance in this highly distinctive high-altitude terroir. The Quinta do Cardo Reserva Red Wine is an organic, high-altitude DOC Beira Interior wine. The granitic geological matrix of the Beira Interior Plateau gives the wines of Quinta do Cardo a fresh and mineral character. Quinta do Cardo's organic production, a pioneering approach in Portugal, preserves native fauna and flora and fosters biodiversity in our agricultural ecosystem, with a strong positive impact on the final quality of the wines produced here. The first wine produced at Quinta do Cardo was made in the 1930s and was named Branco Maia. In 1988, the first red wine under the Quinta do Cardo label was bottled. The brand's reputation rose rapidly, and it quickly established itself among Portugal's great wines, lending considerable prestige and strength to the then-unknown Beira Interior region. Red wines from Beira Interior display a very vivid red colour and aromas of red fruit, especially when young, sometimes accompanied by very delicate floral notes. In body, they are generally very well balanced, in terms of tannins, fixed acidity and alcohol content, which gives them a very interesting harmony. Nevertheless, a prominent fixed acidity can sometimes be noticed, especially when the wines are young. They have good palate persistence and usually show a longevity that allows for late consumption, years after vinification.
