A 70% dark chocolate tablet, intense and aromatic, that expresses the authenticity of native cocoa from Peru's Amazon. From Tamshiyacu, Iquitos (Loreto Region, Peru), this chocolate originates in the heart of 1,400 hectares of forest, where sustainability, biodiversity and quality walk hand in hand. Studies have shown that Loreto soil is naturally cadmium-free, giving it a comparative advantage over other cocoa-producing regions and ensuring a purer, safer raw material. Tamshi has developed a unique agroforestry system on 650 hectares, where native cocoa trees grow alongside Amazonian forest species, promoting ecological balance and soil regeneration. The native plant Commelina is used as a natural ground cover, and 95% of the organic matter produced by cocoa trees during the post-harvest process is reused as natural fertilizer, boosting soil biological activity and reducing the use of chemical fertilizers. Beyond its environmental commitment, Tamshi has a strong social impact. Thousands of small farmers gain access to training through 13 field schools, agreements with the Regional Directorate of Agriculture of Loreto and DEVIDA, and research partnerships with universities such as UCP. The Tamshi Papec program benefits about 400 farming families, while the company, along with interns, replanted over 2 million native trees. Tamshi controls all stages of cultivation and post-harvest, possessing the first quality control and traceability laboratory on a Peruvian cocoa plantation, and directly employs more than 2,500 people. Through the Tamshi Foundation, the company promotes health campaigns, vaccination, sanitation and education in the region.
