This Barros Tawny is a deceptively smooth delight – a colour that whispers of the Douro’s soil, and a nose brimming with dried figs and ripe plums, all underpinned by a subtle spice that’s awfully reminiscent of a good, strong coffee. The texture is luxuriously velvety, almost playful, yet surprisingly fresh. Seriously, it’s fantastic with a mature, cured cheese and a slice of crusty homemade bread – a quiet champion, really.
