This Firmado Reserva from the Douro is a delightfully unexpected nose, bursting with tangerine and apricot notes, beautifully offset by a hint of pear and pineapple – a vibrant Gouveio at work. There’s a subtle minerality, reminiscent of gunpowder, adding a lovely sophistication. On the palate, the fruit really sings, particularly the pear, while the nutty undertones and a touch of vanilla linger. With a delicate, Arinto-typical tannin structure, it delivers a smooth finish and a long, saline persistence – ideal with grilled fish or poultry dishes.
