This Dão Merlot from Madre de Água is a seriously evocative wine. It boasts a lovely, restrained acidity and a full, lingering body, bursting with notes of black pepper and nutmeg – a signature herbaceousness hinting at the region’s unique terroir. Truly a little gem, it would be brilliant paired with grilled red meats or something wonderfully rustic from the Trás-os-Montes.
