Caves de Murça is the brand of Adega Cooperativa de Murça, CRL, founded in 1963 by a small group of winegrowers led by Francisco Abel Carneiro Lopes and based in Murça, in the Douro Demarcated Region. The cooperative today brings together some 750 members farming around 800 hectares of vineyard. It produces Port, DOC Douro red and white wines, sparkling wines and brandy, and takes its emblem from the Porca de Murça, the granite monolith that symbolises the region's fertility and heritage.
