Napa Valley

About this region

Napa Valley is California's most prestigious wine region and the principal home of New World Cabernet Sauvignon. The narrow, 50-km valley north of San Francisco enjoys warm days, cool maritime nights drawn in through the Golden Gate, and an extraordinary diversity of soils across 16 nested AVAs (Oakville, Rutherford, Stags Leap District, Howell Mountain and others). Cabernet dominates, producing rich, ripe, structured reds that command global benchmark prices. Chardonnay flourishes in cooler Carneros at the southern end; Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot complete the Bordeaux palette.
