Gewürztraminer

About this grape variety

Easily the world's most aromatic dry-to-sweet white grape, Gewürztraminer (the name means "spiced Traminer") produces wines of unmistakable rose-petal, lychee, ginger and floral spice character. The grape buds early and ripens early, naturally accumulating very high sugar — which makes wines either richly off-dry or sweet. Alsace, Italy's Alto Adige, Germany and parts of New Zealand are the principal homes. Pairs famously with Asian cuisine.
