A family business with almost two centuries of history that, never resting on its laurels, has learned to modernise. José Maria da Fonseca has been engaged in winemaking since 1834, the result of a shared passion within a family that has preserved and projected the memory and prestige of its founder. Aware of the responsibility of being the oldest producer of table wine and Moscatel de Setúbal in Portugal today, José Maria da Fonseca follows a philosophy of continual development, investing ever more in research and production facilities and blending the latest techniques with traditional know‑how. A prime example of this is the Adega José de Sousa Rosado Fernandes in Reguengos de Monsaraz, Alentejo, where the Roman tradition of fermenting in clay pots coexists with cutting‑edge technology.
