A family business with almost two centuries of history that, never resting on its laurels, has learned to modernise. José Maria da Fonseca has been engaged in winemaking since 1834, the result of a shared passion within a family that has managed to preserve and project the memory and prestige of its founder. Conscious of its duty as today’s oldest producer of table wine and Moscatel de Setúbal in Portugal, the company follows a philosophy of perpetual development, constantly investing more in research and production, blending the most modern techniques with traditional knowledge. A prime example is Adega José de Sousa Rosado Fernandes in Reguengos de Monsaraz, Alentejo, where the Roman tradition of fermenting in clay pots coexists with the latest technology.
