Old bottle with a hammered neck. Moscatel from 1860 produced in Funchal, Madeira Island. Old wine bottles may show traces of dust and damaged labels, which is consistent with their age. The National Cellar is committed to storing all wines at the correct temperature and humidity, but always opts to preserve the visual appearance inherent to their age. We conduct a selection of brands/regions that, by convention, reveal distinct characteristics in old wine tastings. However, we inform that wine is a living organism exposed to time, and even within a bottle, aromas are subject to different evolutions. Therefore, the National Cellar cannot be held responsible for the product quality, as it is an old wine. Our recommendation is to open the bottle and let the wine breathe first, as this will help release its natural aromas after so many years closed. If you choose to decant the wine before serving, make sure to do it patiently to detect the appearance of sediment that an aged wine tends to create.
