A family business with almost two centuries of history that, never resting on its laurels, has managed to modernise. José Maria da Fonseca has been engaged in winemaking since 1834, a result of a shared family passion that has preserved and projected the memory and prestige of its founder. Aware of the responsibility of being today Portugal’s oldest producer of table wine and Setúbal Moscatel, the company adheres to a philosophy of continuous development, investing increasingly in research and production support while combining the latest techniques with traditional knowledge. A prime example is the José de Sousa Rosado Fernandes winery in Reguengos de Monsaraz, Alentejo, where the Roman tradition of fermenting in clay pots is kept alongside the latest technology.
