The House of Sandeman was founded in London in 1790 by George Sandeman, a young Scotsman from Perth who decided to invest 300 pounds, borrowed from his father, in a venture trading Port wine and Jerez. Always a pioneer, Sandeman was the first company to put a fire‑burned label with its name on a barrel, guaranteeing the quality of the wine it sold. Over more than two centuries, Sandeman has built its success on a rare capacity for innovation and on expertise passed down from generation to generation. Today, led by the Portuguese company Sogrape Vinhos, Sandeman proudly claims to be the world’s leading brand of Port wine and Jerez, with the tagline “Sandeman, Famous for Pleasure.” The bottling year may not match the image shown.
