Moscatel, as a fortified wine, is produced in a manner similar to Port wines, likewise resulting in sweet wines whose alcoholic fermentation is halted by the addition of grape spirit. After skin maceration for a set period, the Moscatel wine is placed in casks to age and refine its richly aromatic profile. These wines are made from the various grape varieties of Muscat, internationally renowned for their aromatic richness and concentration of natural sugars.
