Bacalhôa Vinhos de Portugal, founded in 1922 under the name João Pires & Filhos, has embarked on a long journey, establishing itself as one of Portugal’s most innovative wine producers. The company began by making wines from grapes grown in the Palmela region. In the 1980s, Bacalhôa Vinhos de Portugal expanded, acquiring estates across the country and setting new standards for quality wine production. The Quinta da Bacalhôa, considered the most beautiful estate from the first half of the 15th century still standing in Portugal, is an ancient property of the Portuguese Royal House. Located in Azeitão, the Quinta and the famous Palace of Bacalhôa form an artistic monument of great significance to the nation. Today, the Quinta da Bacalhôa is owned by the Berardo Foundation, a family entity led by Commander José Berardo. It was declared a National Monument on 23 June 1910. Around the Quinta, visitors encounter charming villages, wine cellars, and one of Portugal’s most stunning and imposing landscapes – the Arrábida Natural Park.
