The interruption of fermentation with grape spirit lends it a wonderfully spirited character, beautifully balanced by 18 months ageing in oak vats – a touch that’s clearly impressed the judges, earning them a Douro Wine Star. It pairs exquisitely with aged cheeses and plump raisins, of course.
