A family business with almost two centuries of history that, without ever resting on its laurels, has learned to modernise. José Maria da Fonseca has been active in winemaking since 1834, a result of a shared passion from a family that has managed to preserve and project the memory and prestige of its founder. Aware of the responsibility of being today the oldest producer of table wine and Moscatel de Setúbal in Portugal, José Maria da Fonseca adheres to a philosophy of constant development, which leads it to invest ever more in research and production support, combining the latest techniques with traditional knowledge. A clear example is the Adega José de Sousa Rosado Fernandes, in Reguengos de Monsaraz, Alentejo, where the Roman tradition of fermenting in clay pots is kept up to date with the latest technology.
