Description

Alambre O Moscatel de Setúbal is a generous wine with a Controlled Designation of Origin (D.O.C.), recognized since 1907. This generous wine is made from the Moscatel de Setúbal grape variety, a grape that stands out for its fruity and honeyed character, with tropical fruit aromas. This wine comes from a batch of six harvests, where the most recent vintage is at least 20 years old and the oldest dates back to 1911, producing a complex, aromatic, elegant wine with a long finish. From the annual production of Moscatel de Setúbal, a portion is destined for extended ageing in used wooden barrels, which can be visited at Adega dos Teares Velhos, the Museum House, in Vila Nogueira de Azeitão. **Vinification** After receiving the grapes in the cellar, their probable degree is analyzed so that the addition of brandy is carried out at the optimal moment. By tradition, the skin contact is extended for 5 months. In March, the musts are pressed and the resulting wine is blended with “vino lágrima”. **Ageing** In large tanks or barrels made of used wood. There is no bottling stage, as the wine does not evolve after bottling. **Private Cellar Storage** Bottle laid down, at a temperature of 12 °C and 60 % humidity. **Expected Longevity** These wines are subjected, during ageing, to a natural oxidation process. Thus, there is no evolution after bottling. If the bottle is correctly stored after opening, the wine will remain stable for many years. **Analyses** Total Acidity: 7.3 g l⁻¹ pH: 3.34 Residual Sugar: 182 g l⁻¹ **Technical Information** Classification: D.O.C.
