Description

Alcateia Red is crafted from Alicante Bouschet, Castelão and Tinta Caiada grapes sourced exclusively from the vineyards of Herdade da Retortinha in the northern Alentejo. The vines are planted at roughly 200 metres above sea level on slate soils with vertical cleavage, producing a wine that embodies the authentic character of this terroir. It presents a vibrant ruby hue. The aroma is dominated by notes of wild fruit and jam, which carry through harmoniously on the palate, revealing a balanced, enveloping profile of pleasant intensity. The finish is persistent and elegant, reflecting the authenticity of the grape varieties and the identity of Alentejo. Herdade da Retortinha is a family‑run estate located in the municipality of Sousel, Portalegre, where an elevated, uniquely characterized Alentejo produces wines of strong identity.
