This Altano Reserva from Symington certainly makes a statement – it’s a wine that’s clearly aiming for something special. Primarily driven by Touriga Nacional and Touriga Franca, the initial impression is one of a deeply coloured wine, hinting at the complexity to come. You’ll find notes of ripe blackberry and dark chocolate, layered with a subtle spice, all supported by a full-bodied and remarkably long finish – a well-deserved 16.5 points from the Grandes Escolhas. Seriously, this would be fantastic with a hearty beef roast.
