This Brunello Montosoli from Altesino is a delightfully audacious wine – it nearly makes me faint with its early ageing! It delivers a powerfully concentrated fruit profile, layered with hints of tobacco and aromatic herbs, a distinctly masculine touch reflective of the Montalcino terroir. The Montosoli vineyard, in particular, seems to have imbued it with a truly unique character; I suspect the Altesino team would have preferred to focus solely on a single batch of this vintage. A remarkably solid wine with ageing potential, ideally paired with a good, grilled beef.
