The Demarcated Region of Dão was established in 1908, framed by three mountainous massifs – Buçaco, Caramulo and Serra da Estrela – which shield it from Atlantic winds and provide it with very special climatic conditions, and Álvaro Castro is one of Portugal’s best producers and the undisputed leader in the Dão region.
