This Anónimo from the Douro certainly demands your attention. The deep ruby colour hints at a powerful concentration – ripe black and red fruits take centre stage, beautifully interwoven with toasted and spice notes, thanks to that lovely French oak. A substantial wine, undeniably, but with a remarkably long finish, a hallmark of the Douro’s terroir and strengthened by the excellent 2014 vintage. Seriously, it’s begging for a juicy steak grilled to perfection.
