This Vinhas Velhas do Dão, awarded 17 points, is a frankly exuberant burst of fresh fruit – and it seems to have a particular fondness for salt. The mouthfeel is surprisingly elegant, a real contrast to the impressively full body, undoubtedly a result of the vineyard’s age and, perhaps, a terroir with granite-influenced nuances. A long, intense finish suggests a persistence that would pair beautifully with freshly grilled fish.
