Bacalhoa Verdelho Branco

Description

This white wine from Bacalhôa is made exclusively from Verdelho grapes and displays a straw‑yellow color with greenish tints. Its complex aroma offers floral notes and tropical fruit, with hints of passionfruit and quince. On the palate it is elegant and deep, with a strong structure and body. Bacalhôa Vinhos de Portugal, founded in 1922 under the name João Pires & Filhos, has traveled a long journey, establishing itself as one of Portugal’s most innovative wine producers. The company began by producing wines from grapes grown in the Palmela region. Throughout the 1980s, Bacalhôa Vinhos de Portugal expanded, acquiring estates across the country and creating new paradigms for quality wine production. The Quinta da Bacalhôa is considered the most beautiful estate from the first half of the 15th century still existing in Portugal, originally a royal property. Located in Azeitão, the estate and the famous Palácio da Bacalhôa form an artistic monument of great significance to the country. Today, the Quinta da Bacalhôa belongs to the Fundação Berardo, a foundation linked to the Berardo family whose patriarch is Commander José Berardo. On June 23, 1910 it was classified as a National Monument. In the surrounding area visitors find picturesque villages, cellars and one of Portugal’s most beautiful and imposing landscapes – the Arrábida Natural Park. (illustrative image)
