This wine develops its unique character through a heat treatment followed by three years of aging in oak barrels before bottling. It is excellent as an aperitif. Bottled ready to drink, it remains in good condition for several months after opening. Few producers – especially in Madeira wine – have experienced a revolution as significant as the one that shaped Barbeito. Transitioning from a bulk wine supplier to becoming a reference in the Madeira wine region is an achievement. All of this began in 1991 when Ricardo Freitas joined the family business and, together with the Japanese Kinoshita partners, decided to transform Barbeito into one of the most important Madeira wine producers.
