Barroca da Malhada Arinto branco is made exclusively from the Arinto grape, with hand‑harvested vines, spontaneous fermentation, and minimal cellar intervention. It ferments in a used third‑hand Portuguese oak barrel with temperature control, followed by a seven‑month period on total lees. Without added sulfites, it uses chestnut flower powder as a natural preservative and antioxidant alternative. The wine displays a straw‑yellow colour with golden veining, highlighting the influence of the wood. Its aroma shows great complexity, with subtle notes of toast and brioche balanced by the grape’s typical citrus expression. On the palate it is intense and structured, with vibrant acidity leading the experience, wrapped in texture, creaminess and crispness. Barroca da Malhada is a craft wine producer from Beira Interior, originating from a historic estate dating back to the Middle Ages that belonged to the Viscounts of Tinalhas. With about five hectares of vines managed organically and biodynamically, it works on slate‑sandy, granite‑derived soils in one of Portugal’s most mountainous regions.
