Description

Very deep amber in colour, with a well-defined green rim and a reddish core. The nose is intensely fruity, with notes of almond, hazelnut, clove, walnut, fig and honey. Subtle, elegant and remarkably well balanced. On the palate it is fresh and smooth, with an excellent balance between sugar and acidity. The finish is extremely long. After many years of ageing Bastardinho de Azeitão (Trousseau), the moment has come to taste this extraordinary nectar from the Setúbal Peninsula. For a long time it was bottled as a 25-year-old, later as a 20-year-old, and then, as the bases aged, as a 30-year-old. This year, as it was no longer possible to maintain the same profile, we have moved to a 40-year-old. The youngest harvest in the blend is now in its forties, and the oldest is around eighty. This wine should be savoured with great care and solemnity, as these are the last 2,300 litres. (image for illustrative purposes only)
