“This Baton Reserva from the Douro doesn’t immediately reveal all its secrets. Initially, it presents a colour hinting at depth, and the nose unfolds with a complexity evoking wild berries from a fairytale forest, complemented by a subtle spice note and, of course, a classic tobacco aroma – all thanks to the prominent Touriga grapes. The tannins are exquisitely refined, perfectly balanced by a persistent acidity that ensures a long, elegant finish. It would pair beautifully with a hearty beef roast, I’d imagine.”
