Description

Bollinger The name of Bollinger's emblematic champagne, written in English, encapsulates its entire history. It was Georges Bollinger's British agent who, in 1911, christened it “Special Cuvée,” because the term “non-vintage brut” did not do justice to a champagne of such subtlety. More than a century later, the name of Bollinger's flagship champagne continues to reflect its whole story. This has been etched into labels and memories, as the palate already knows: the Special Cuvée is truly… special. It reflects the house’s characteristic know‑how and its ability to recreate, year after year, a cuvée with a consistent style and quality. The Special Cuvée results from a precise blend of several vintages and, above all, reserve wines, which give the wine its full structure and make it a benchmark of the Bollinger style. It is this delicate mix of a single‑vintage expression with a majority of reserve wines, some aged in magnums for 7 to 15 years, that gives it a unique character. Made up of more than 85 % of Grand and Premier cru grapes from the three main Champagne varieties—60 % Pinot Noir, 25 % Chardonnay, and 15 % Meunier—the Special Cuvée is aged in the cellar for twice the time required by the appellation’s regulations. It is moderately dosed between 7 and 8 g L⁻¹, revealing a marvelous aromatic complexity. Perfect for sharing with friends in a simple and meaningful moment, the Special Cuvée is the champagne we offer to the people we love who appreciate the good things. To highlight its unique style, bouquet, and aromas, this wine should be served between 8 and 10 °C. You can enjoy the Special Cuvée immediately or choose to age it in your cellar.
