Borgogno No Name is an unlabeled, contestatory wine that emerged as a protest against “the regulation and excessive bureaucracy of the D.O.C.G. Barolo,” as the cellar itself explains. Made from Nebbiolo grapes as if it were a classic Barolo, it didn’t reach that category but instead the Langhe Nebbiolo D.O.C. The house, in a sign of dissent, chose to call it “Without Name.” This has become the success of a liquid shout of rebellion and critique against the prevailing rigidity that still persists today—intensity and pure harmony in an already mythic wine.
