Wine that pays tribute to Castle Grumello, located in the Valtellina region, the same area that hosts the Ar.Pe.Pe. winery. This fortress, which belonged to the De Piro family and served both defensive and residential purposes, is known as the twin castle because it has two identical halves joined by a wall. The wine is crafted from grapes sourced from Ar.Pe.Pe.'s two vineyards in this subzone of the Valtellina Superiore DOC, both south‑facing, which affords them many hours of sunlight and a thicker skin. In the cellar the wine undergoes more than 100 days of maceration in wooden vats and a 15‑month ageing period in both wood and other materials such as concrete and glass. It is a complex, full‑bodied red with flavorful tannins.
