This Cabeça Toiro Reserva seems to have boldly decided on a rather adventurous path. The blend of Sauvignon, Castelão, and Fernão Pires hints at a vibrant, and perhaps a touch unpredictable, personality. Touriga Nacional adds a welcome elegance, as if the producer was keen to temper the exuberance. The Chardonnay contributes a lovely texture, suggesting a wine with the potential to beautifully complement grilled seafood – particularly a seafood rice – to create a fantastic contrast of flavours. A wine with character, certainly worthy of its Great Wine of Portugal Award.
