Caminhos Cruzados Dão DOP. Under the Caminhos Cruzados brand, our greatest creative challenges arise. It is the house name that leaps onto the bottle, ensuring that every wine bearing this mark comes to take us to a new Dão, reinvented with each bottle. A blend of highly expressive varieties typical of the region gives rise to fresh, fruity wines, where a brief ageing of some of the lot’s wines in French oak barrels adds body, presence and complexity, without compromising the traditional elegance and softness that are hallmarks of the reds from this area. Winemakers: Carla Rodrigues, Carloto Magalhães, and Manuel Vieira Vines: Located in the Terras de Senhorim sub‑region, between the Dão and Mondego rivers, planted at altitudes between 400 and 500 metres on granite soils, with an average age of 30 years. Vinification: 40% Touriga Nacional, 30% Alfrocheiro, 20% Jaén, 10% Tinta Roriz. Manual harvest in 15‑kg baskets, followed by hand‑selection on a choice tray. After destemming and crushing, vinification took place in stainless‑steel tanks at controlled temperature, with maceration tailored to each variety. Following malolactic fermentation, part of the Touriga Nacional and Alfrocheiro wines were aged in French oak barrels of varying ages, while the remainder stayed in stainless‑steel tanks.
